Even though it’s not a recent wedding I have performed at, I can’t help doing a short post on Sarah & Eoghan’s wedding. Their ceremony is definitely one that sticks out in my mind as an absolutely beautiful civil ceremony taking place after the ringing in of the new year!

Set in the historic Georgian house of Flemming’s restaurant in Glanmire, the very relaxed bride was dressed in an unusual but striking black and pink dress and all topped off with holly and ivy in her hair. The ceremony was very intimate with a crowd of no more than thirty people (including Sarah’s little dog bopping around the place). They exchanged their vows in the front of an open fire and had their closest friends read some lovely poems.

They chose songs that I love performing and each one worked perfectly with the atmosphere and setting of the venue.

Here is the music I played for them on the day;

Entrance: Skinny Love – Bon Iver
Lighting of the Separate Candles: Higher Love – James Vincent Mc Morrow
Lighting of the Marriage Candle: Times Like These Acoustic Version -Foo Fighters
Signing of the Register: One Day Like This -Elbow
Recessional: Home – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

After a relaxed ceremony , the couple and their family enjoyed a hearty winter meal. I played and sang for the duration of the meal (approx. 2hrs). I played light background music so as not to interfere with the chatter and excitement around the table. As the dark drew in around 5 or 6 o clock I left the couple and their guests to a fun and exciting evening of celebration in the bar downstairs.

It was a pleasure to spend the whole afternoon with this beautiful couple and their family. Thanks for having me Sarah & Eoghan!
